Research interests

My scientific focus is especially on the ecology of human-influenced habitats in both tropical and moderate regions, including urban ecology, urban restoration and invasion biology. Basic part of my research work is its practical orientation and application.

Current conference activities

Organising a session on "Urban Ecosystems" at the GfÖ annual meeting

Current research projects

Implementation of the strategy for the promotion of bees and other pollinators in Berlin by optimizing the protection of wild bees - a joint project of Technische Universität Berlin, Chair of Ecosystem Science / Plant Ecology and the Berlin Senate Department for the Environment, Transport and Climate Protection (starting May 2019)

Green SURGE - Green Infrastructure and Urban Biodiversity for Sustainable Urban Development and the Green Economy. Funded by the European Commission Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) 2013 to 2017. Learn more about the "edible school" within Green Surge's Berlin Urban Learning Lab in our video!
